As licensed secondary-school teachers with extensive background dealing with individuals with emotional, psychological, social, and physical adjustments/deficits, we make each session a positive outcome with emphasis on consistency, firmness, empathy, compassion, and reasonable goals. Whenever possible, we try to use the riding experience as a way to develop measurable cognitive skills married to affection and praise. The animals we use are tuned in to the needs of these individuals and extraordinarily calm and tolerant of individual needs and talents. We are familiar with the work and talent of Dr. Temple Grandin and her findings regarding autistic development, and we use horse behavior and language to help facilitate the development of the student with learning, mobility, attention-deficit, and emotional issues. At this time we do not have the equipment to facilitate the experience for individuals with extreme weight issues or total lack of mobility. Call or e-mail to learn more about our goals and offerings, to inspect the farm and our animals, or to explore ways in which we may be able to help serve you and your family.
